A Letter From PSS President, Lisa Marie Nespoli

Dear PSS Members,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for your continued support of the Product Stewardship Society. Your financial support through dues, sponsorships, support of courses, and attendance at PSX are vital to everything we are able to accomplish. Perhaps more meaningful, the time and expertise that you provide through volunteering on committees, presenting your knowledge at our webinars, during conference sessions, and other interactions with the organization are the biggest contributors to ensuring a long-term, thriving society. So, thank you once again!

Next month marks the end of my presidency and a year of significant growth and change for the Society. While this year has flown by and we are always looking forward, I think it is equally important to look back and see what we have achieved together.

Member Benefits

This year, the PSS Board took a hard look at the member experience and what is most important to you, our greatest resource. Through this exercise, we surveyed our membership to ensure that what we are delivering is meeting your needs. The findings were insightful and allowed us to revamp our member benefits package to focus on the offerings most desired.

Networking

It’s clear that we product stewards are an active and social bunch as networking is of upmost importance to us (and I couldn’t agree more)! Late last year, we launched the new Member Meet-Up events. These are exclusive opportunities for members to get together (virtually) and discuss topics that are of highest importance to participants. These short bi-monthly discussions help members stay connected throughout the year and allow members at all places in their stewardship journey to learn from each other and grow. We will continue these opportunities and welcome all members to recommend ideas for new Meet-Ups in the future.

Educational Content

Another area most important to our members is the ability to access on demand educational content. The stewardship on demand recordings include hundreds of educational sessions at your fingertips. We’ve brought back the ability to access these, free, as part of your exclusive member benefits throughout the year. We’ve also worked to streamline the website to make getting what you need even easier and faster. Finally, a group of passionate volunteers worked hard to update the Core Competencies for the Product Stewardship Professional guide, now available at no cost to members.

Volunteer Opportunities

We’ve learned that volunteering and sharing your knowledge, expertise, and interacting with other members is beneficial to you and to us, too. Over time, our need for volunteer committees has expanded. While the Conference Planning, Education, and Thought Leadership committees have been long standing, this year we have created two more committees that we’d love your help and expertise with! We’ve formed an Outreach Committee focused on building the Society’s membership through allied partnerships and a Communications Committee focused on content creation for social media, marketing, and digital platforms. If you are interested in learning more, I, along with any on the Board of Directors, am happy to discuss the opportunity for you to be more engaged in the Society while building your network and leadership skills.

New Resources

This past year, we released results from our first ever Product Steward Salary and Compensation Survey. This tool provides you with detailed information on industry compensation practices, including salaries, bonuses, and benefits among others. This interactive resource allows members to filter and review salary and compensation information that is most relevant to you. Further, this online Salary and Compensation Calculator is another complimentary resource available to members only.

Next, we recently launched our new Product Stewards Consultants Directory. For those looking to further promote their business, this is an excellent low-cost opportunity to advertise your services to thousands of potential clients in your field.

Professional Development

Lastly, we continue to work to make opportunities available to help you learn and grow in the profession. This year we’ve added career management services to maximize your potential for success. If you are attending the conference, there will be a special opportunity to have coaching services while you are there (along with a professional headshot to complete the package)! We have also been working with the Board for Global EHS Credentialing to make enhancements and streamline the process of obtaining the Certified Professional Product Steward (CPPS).

I truly could not be more pleased with everything the Product Stewardship Society has accomplished this past year, and I look forward to seeing all of the magnificent work that we will continue to do together in the future.

Sincerely,

Lisa Marie Nespoli
President, Product Stewardship Society

P.S. Your 2025 membership dues renewal notice will be sent out very soon. Thank you in advance for taking the time to renew your membership to receive uninterrupted benefits.
