Engage with Advancing Safety in Pharmaceutical Formulations at the 2025 SOT Annual Meeting & ToxExpo
The Society of Toxicology (SOT) invites professionals from the PSX community to attend the 2025 SOT Annual Meeting & ToxExpo, taking place March 16–20, in Orlando, Florida.
Sessions Tailored for PSX Professionals
Many Scientific Sessions will provide valuable insights into emerging technologies and best practices regarding product stewardship, including:
- “Complexity of Food Packaging: Formulation, Safety, Regulation, Innovation, and Recycling” (Continuing Education Course, available for an add-on fee)
Sunday, March 16, 1:15 PM–5:00 PM
This will be a crash course on the current regulatory and safety approaches to evaluate food contact materials considering formulation, safety, new approach methodologies, innovation, recycling, and sustainability challenges. - “A Cross-Industry Perspective on Exposure-Driven Human Safety Evaluation on Polymer Chemical Additives”
Monday, March 17, 12:10 PM–1:30 PM
Chemical additives are used in the production of polymers to manufacture food packaging, drug containers, medical devices, consumer products, etc. The presentations will cover current multi-industrial and academic perspectives relating to the exposure of chemicals to the public and patient populations, a comprehensive approach to protect consumers and patients from the risks posed by chemicals. - “Living in a Chemical World: Identification and Characterization of Emerging Contaminants of Concern and Need for New Regulatory Approaches”
Monday, March 17, 1:45 PM–4:30 PM
This session is intended to serve as an introduction to several emerging contaminants of concern, highlight research and policy needs in this space, and foster a broader discussion session on how to identify, assess, and regulate these and other novel and/or replacement contaminants to best protect public and environmental health. - “Toxicological and Regulatory Considerations for Emerging Technologies and Hot Topics in Food”
Tuesday, March 18, 8:00 AM–10:45 AM
Innovation is at the forefront of food production and safety assessment of new products and approaches remains the top priority for regulators, product developers, and manufacturers. At the same time, reassuring consumers and restoring confidence of the safety of existing food products and ingredients and the robustness of the risk assessment paradigm in the wake of increasing public attention is also warranted. This session will explore these ideas and more. - “Active Ingredient Degradation: Process and Challenges in Identification, Toxicological Limit Determination, and Regulatory Submission”
Wednesday, March 19, 8:00 AM–10:45 AM
This session will highlight all three components of degradant discovery and notification by including speakers who will discuss methodology challenges, use of new approach methodologies to establish safe limits, and perspectives on how these approaches fit within the regulatory framework of ICH Q3B - “Skin Deep: Navigating the Evolution and Application of Dermal Absorption Modeling in Modern Risk Assessment of Cosmetics and Personal Care Products”
Wednesday, March 19, 11:00 AM–12:20 PM
Overall, attendees will gain insights into designing and interpreting effective in vitro skin absorption studies; gaining confidence in new approach methods for dermal absorption assessment; applying physiologically based pharmacokinetic modeling for safety evaluation of cosmetic products; and understanding practical case studies related to dermal absorption in cosmetic safety and risk assessments.
Engage with Experts at ToxExpo
The ToxExpo will feature over 250 exhibitors, providing opportunities to discover the latest tools, technologies, and services in the field of toxicology. This is an excellent chance to network with fellow PSX professionals, exchange knowledge, and explore the cutting-edge resources that are driving advancements.
